Teeth Examination

Cmdr. Mark Roback, a dentist assigned to the Military Sealift Command (MSC) hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19), examines the teeth of an Indonesian woman at Bukapitung Village Clinic in Alor, Indonesia. The dental team at Bukapitung extracted over 40 teeth during their first day at the village while they were ashore from Mercy. Mercy is currently off the coast of Alor, Indonesia to provide humanitarian assistance and focus medical care to thousands of people displaced by a magnitude 7.3 earthquake that struck Nov. 11, 2004. While ashore, Mercy's crew will focus on public health, primary care, dental treatment, preventive medicine, health education and pharmaceutical support.
